Speedy Bag Collection by Louis Vuitton
Louis Vuitton is a French fashion house that was founded in 1854 by Monsieur Vuitton. Through his experience of working as a malletier (trunk-maker) for French royalty (Empress Eugénie de Mojito) Vuitton obtained advanced knowledge of how to make luxury travel cases. Soon after 1932, the Speedy bag was introduced. Today, the Speedy bag is available in 5 canvases, namely, Monogram, Damier, Idylle, Multicolore and Epi Leather.Personally, I adore Louis Vuitton products, especially the Speedy collection. I bought the Speedy 35 bag in a classic Monogram Canvas from the Louis Vuitton store in Manchester and it has served beautifully as a durable and spacious travel and every day bag, dripping with luxury. The handles/trimmings on the bag darken with age because the leather is untreated and contact with water adds to the darkening of the material even though the bags are waterproof.
However, this eventual vintage look ensures that the bag is authentic as this would not happen to a replica. All Speedy bags have a zip closure and can be easily folded to fit inside their dust bag and they all come with a padlock and key that is usually kept in the side pocket inside the bag. In my opinion, the Speedy 35 bag is perfect for light travel but the Speedy 30 is ideal if you are looking for a bag specifically for every day wear as it is slightly smaller than the former and, therefore, more manageable. A common problem most encounter (mainly with larger Speedy bags) is that the bottom of the bag seems to sag if the bag is not full enough. A simple solution to this is to place a hard cardboard at the bottom of the bag et voila! You can even find similar or alternative solutions on eBay. Louis Vuitton products never go on sale, in fact, on the contrary, the price of the products gradually increases over time. A positive outlook on this is that the bag can be seen as an investment piece that will always remain a classic style and continue to increase in worth, leading to a high resale value. I bought the Speedy 35 bag for £335 and it is priced at £450 today.
